Privacy and offline
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. ShotPress compresses and converts every photo on your device. It makes no network call to do it, so it works with no connection at all. No photo, file name or path is ever sent anywhere. See the privacy policy.
Does it work offline?
Yes, fully. You can turn off mobile data and Wi-Fi and ShotPress still works. There are no ads to load and nothing to fetch.
Does it strip location and other metadata?
Location is removed from shared copies by default. Per batch, you can keep all metadata, remove only location, or strip everything. Capture dates are kept so your photos stay in order.
Formats and quality
Which RAW formats does ShotPress open?
DNG, CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, ORF, RW2, PEF, SRW and more. RAW opens through the camera's own full-size embedded preview or the platform decoder. On Android, some Sony, Olympus and Panasonic RAWs open at their embedded preview size rather than full resolution; on iPhone and iPad these render at full size. ShotPress shows the output dimensions before you start.
What formats can ShotPress save?
JPEG, WebP and PNG, plus HEIC where the platform can encode it. You can convert a whole batch from one format to another in a single pass — for example RAW or HEIC to JPG, or anything to WebP.
Will the quality drop?
At share sizes the picture holds up; the file size is what drops. You can check any result in the before/after compare view, with the exact sizes shown, before you send it. If a photo is already small, ShotPress tells you rather than making it worse.
Saving and sharing
Will ShotPress change or delete my originals?
Not unless you ask. Results are new files, saved to their own album (Pictures › ShotPress on Android, your Photos library on iOS) or a folder you choose, and ShotPress never overwrites an original. Only if you choose Free up space do the originals you pick move to your phone's trash (Recently Deleted on iOS), after the system asks you to confirm. You can restore them from there until it empties, usually after 30 days.
How does Free up space work?
After a batch, Free up space shows how much storage you would get back and lets you pick which originals the smaller copies replace. The smaller copies are saved first; the originals go to the system trash, never straight to deletion, and the system asks you to confirm. RAW originals are left out unless you turn on “Also replace RAW originals”, because RAW detail can’t be recovered once the trash empties. For a RAW+JPEG pair, the camera JPEG can go while the RAW stays.
It works for photos picked from your library inside ShotPress, on iPhone and on Android 11 and later. Photos brought in from Files, a folder, a ZIP or the system picker can’t be replaced from the app, and neither can RAW files the Android photo library doesn’t list as photos (often Canon CR3), even when you pick them inside ShotPress.
How do I get photos under 1 MB for email?
Choose the Email preset, which aims for 1 MB or under per photo at 2048 px. On Pro you can also set an exact target size and ShotPress finds the quality that lands under it. See the guide to getting photos under 1 MB for email.
How do I shrink photos for WhatsApp?
Pick the WhatsApp preset (1600 px), select your photos, and tap compress. See the WhatsApp guide.
Pricing and purchases
What is free and what needs Pro?
Free covers up to 5 photos a day, every share preset, and no ads. Pro removes the daily limit and adds Custom settings, target file size, WebP, PNG and HEIC output, and rename patterns. Pro is $14.99 as a one-time Lifetime unlock (best value), or $9.99 yearly or $2.99 weekly.
How do I restore a purchase?
Open Settings in ShotPress and tap Restore purchases. Your Pro unlock is tied to your Google or Apple account, so it restores on any device signed in to the same account.
Does ShotPress show ads or add a watermark?
No ads, and no watermark on your photos — free or Pro.
Devices
Which devices does ShotPress run on?
Android 8 (API 26) and later. Opening or saving HEIC needs Android 9 or later, and opening AVIF needs Android 12 or later. An iOS version is on the way. Both stores are listed as “Coming soon” until the apps are live.
